Getting started with imports in Swivel begins with understanding what data you want to bring in and where it’s coming from. Different situations require different import processes.

Most users fall into one of these categories:

  • Migrating from another CRM

  • Importing contacts from a spreadsheet

  • Importing additional records like client accounts or policies

Choose the path below that best matches your situation.

Migrating from Another CRM

If you previously used another CRM and want to move your existing database into Swivel, start with the guide for your current system. Choose your CRM below:

Using a Different CRM?

If you're migrating from a CRM other than Redtail or Wealthbox, our Professional Services team may assist with your data migration.

Our team will:

  1. Review your current CRM

  2. Determine what data can be migrated

  3. Provide a Statement of Work (SOW) outlining the scope and timeline

Importing Contacts from a Spreadsheet (CSV)

If your contacts are stored in a spreadsheet (such as Excel or Google Sheets), you can import them directly using a CSV file.

Follow our step-by-step instructions here:

This process includes:

  • Downloading the contact import template

  • Formatting your spreadsheet to match the required fields

  • Uploading your CSV and mapping the fields during import

Importing Client Accounts & Policies

You’ll likely want to import your clients’ accounts and policies so they are connected to their contact records in Swivel.

This is especially important if you plan to use Swivel Sync (available with Premier subscriptions) to connect to carriers/institutions and automatically update policy and account values.
