Projected Compensation

This article walks you through how to use the Projected Compensation tab inside Business Management.

The Projected Compensation tab gives you a forward-looking view of expected compensation across your book of business. Compensation is organized by year and grouped into Projected (current and future years) and Past (prior years), so you can quickly see what is coming in and what has already been earned.

📌 Note: Only users with the Commissions and/or Owner user role can access Projected Compensation. See Swivel User Roles & Permissions for more information.

Navigating to Projected Compensation

From the main navigation menu, select Business Management > Compensation > Projected Compensation.

Understanding the Projected Compensation View

Once on the Projected Compensation tab, you will see compensation broken out by year. Each year displays a table with the following columns:

Column

Description

Type/Name

The compensation status group (Pending or Complete), broken down by product line and then by agent

Monthly Columns (Jan through Dec)

The total compensation expected or received for that month

Total

The running total across all months for that row

Rows are expandable. Clicking the arrow next to a status group expands it to show the product line breakdown, and expanding a product line shows the individual agents underneath.

Projected vs Past

The view is divided into two sections:

Projected includes the current calendar year and any future years where compensation has been entered. This is where you will find compensation that is still Pending or expected to be received.
Past includes prior calendar years and shows compensation that has already been completed.

Clicking into the Numbers

Any compensation amount that is underlined and teal is clickable. Clicking on a dollar amount opens a detail modal showing the individual compensation records that make up that total. The detail modal displays the following information:

Column

Description

Agent

The agent the compensation is attributed to

Product

The product name and number associated with the compensation

Type

The compensation type (e.g., Transfer, Commission, Bonus)

Compensable

The compensable amount the rate is applied to

Rate

The compensation rate percentage

Split

The agent's split percentage

Amount

The calculated compensation amount for that record

Total

The sum of all compensation records shown in the modal

The modal header displays the month, product line, agent name, and status so you always know exactly what you are looking at.

Filtering the View

The Projected Compensation tab includes two filters in the top right corner:

  • All Years - filter to a specific calendar year

  • All Agents - filter to view compensation for a specific agent

FAQs

Why is a compensation amount showing $0 for some months?

If no compensation records exist for that month, the value will display as $0. This is expected and does not indicate an error.

Why can't I click on a compensation amount?

Only amounts that are underlined and teal are clickable. If an amount is not styled that way, there are no individual compensation records to drill into for that cell.

What is the difference between Pending and Complete in the Type/Name column?

Pending compensation represents records that have been entered but not yet marked as received. Complete represents compensation that has been fully processed.

How is the Total column calculated?

The Total column sums all monthly values across the visible columns for that row. It reflects the same records you would see if you clicked into each individual month.
