What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
Two-factor authentication (2FA), sometimes called multi-factor authentication (MFA) helps protect your Swivel account by requiring a second verification step when you sign in. Even if someone knows your password, they won't be able to access your account without your verification code.
Swivel supports two authentication methods: an Authenticator App or Phone Verification (text message or voice call). You can manage your preferred authentication method at any time from your profile settings.
đ Note: Beginning September 1, 2026, two-factor authentication (2FA) is required for all Swivel users. Existing users who previously had 2FA enabled will continue using their current authentication method unless they choose to update it.

Best Practices
We recommend using an Authenticator App whenever possible for the highest level of security.
If you change phones, be sure to transfer or reconfigure your authenticator app before removing access to your old device.
Keep your phone number current if you're using text or voice verification.
Never share your one-time verification codes with anyone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is two-factor authentication required?
Yes. After 9/01/2026 all users must enable 2FA.
How do I switch from phone verification to an authenticator app?
Remove your existing authentication method, then follow the setup steps to configure your preferred verification method.
I got a new phone. What should I do?
If you're using an authenticator app, transfer your authenticator before replacing your device whenever possible. If you no longer have access, contact your Swivel administrator or Support.
Does the Phone Method support International Phone Numbers?
No, not at this time. If you have an international number, we recommend using the Authenticator App method.
I'm outside the United States. Which verification method should I use?
Do I have to use my mobile phone number for text or voice phone methods?
No, as long as you provide a valid phone number to receive text and/or phone calls. This can be different or the same as your mobile phone number.
What if I'm an existing user before 9/1/26, where 2FA was not required previously?
If you have not already enabled 2FA, you'll be prompted to set it up the next time you sign in. You can choose to verify your identity using either an Authenticator App or Phone Verification (text message or voice call). Once setup is complete, you'll use your selected verification method each time you log in. If you already have 2FA enabled, you will not experience any changes.
