Before You Start
Make sure you have:
Access to your company's DNS settings (through your domain host, such as GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or Namecheap).
Permission to make DNS changes (this is often handled by an IT admin).
The domain or subdomain you want to send emails from (e.g., acmesolutions.com).
Tip: If you're not sure where your DNS is managed, your IT team or domain provider can help.
Step 1: Add Your Company Email Sender in Swivel
Log in to Swivel and go to Settings > Email Accounts.
Click the + New button.
Enter the company domain you want to send emails from (e.g., acmesolutions.com).
Swivel will generate a list of CNAME DNS records.
These records allow Swivel to send emails on behalf of your domain and are required to continue.
Step 2: Add the DNS Records to Your Domain
Log in to your domain provider.
Open your DNS management settings.
Add each CNAME exactly as shown in Swivel.
Tip: Some domain hosts automatically add your domain. For example, if you get an error when entering em8651.retire @ acmeretirement.com, try entering just em8651.retire instead.
Important: DNS changes don't apply instantly. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours (sometimes up to 24) for changes to propagate.
Step 3: Verify Your Domain in Swivel
Return to Settings > Email Accounts in Swivel.
Select your domain.
Click Verify.
Once verification is successful, your company email sender is ready to use.
In Swivel, you'll see the option to select SendGrid when sending emails. Use this option when you want to send emails from your company domain instead of a personal email address.
Tip: Use your personal Swivel email for 1:1 emails or emails to small lists.
Use your company domain email for larger broadcast emails sent from Swivel. This helps protect personal inbox reputation and improves deliverability for bulk emails.
Troubleshooting Tips
If verification doesn't work right away:
Double-check that all DNS records were entered correctly.
Allow time for DNS propagation (up to 24 hours).
Check for conflicting or duplicate records in your DNS provider.
Confirm you have permission to edit DNS settings.
If issues persist, contact your IT administrator or Swivel support.
Why This Matters
Professional branding: Emails come from your company domain
Better deliverability: Authenticated emails are less likely to be marked as spam.
Tracking and analytics: Swivel can track opens, clicks, bounces, and unsubscribes for your broadcast emails.
