Moving your data to Swivel from another CRM often results in redundant carrier and institution names due to variations in spelling, abbreviations, extra characters, or formatting differences. To ensure optimal performance of Swivel Sync β and to keep your filtered lists, reports, and automations clean β these duplicates should be merged into Swivel's standard naming format.
This article explains how to identify duplicates, where to find Swivel's standard names, and how to merge redundant entries.
Where to Find Swivel's Standard Names
The authoritative list of standardized carrier and institution names is maintained in the Swivel Sync Carriers & Institutions article. Use the carrier and institution names exactly as they appear in that list when standardizing your data.
π Tip: If a carrier you work with isn't yet supported by Swivel Sync, you can still apply consistent naming on your own. Pick one preferred spelling and merge all variations into it. This keeps your data clean and ready when that carrier becomes Sync-supported in the future.
Common Duplicate Variations
After importing data, it's common to see the same carrier represented multiple ways. Examples of variations that should be merged into a single standard name include:
Variations Found After Import/Migration | Standardized Name |
Allianz, Allianz Annuities, Allianz Life Insurance | Allianz Life |
Am Equity, American Equity Life, AE | American Equity |
Schwab, Charles Schwab & Co, Charles Schwab Inc. | Charles Schwab |
F&G, F&G Life, F&G Life Insurance | Fidelity & Guaranty |
North American, North American Co | North American Company |
π Tip: Variations often include extra spacing, punctuation differences, agent or office names appended to the carrier, or legacy abbreviations carried over from your previous CRM.
Merging Duplicate Carrier & Institution Names
Once you've identified duplicate carriers and institutions, merge them into Swivel's standardized name to consolidate your records. Merging preserves all associated products, contacts, documents, and notes under the standardized record.
For full step-by-step instructions on merging institutions, see Merge Duplicate Carriers and Institutions section of the Carriers & Institutions article.
