Compensation Import

Get started tracking compensation in Swivel with the Compensation Import.

Swivel allows you to track compensation natively anytime you create or edit a product. However, if you need to bring in historical compensation data, you can use the Compensation Import feature.

Compensation data populates and drives the Production widgets on your dashboard. For new users, performing a Compensation Import is the fastest way to see meaningful compensation and production data in Swivel.

Things to Know Before You Import

  • Only users with the Owner user role can access the Compensation Import

  • The Compensation Import can be accessed at Settings > Account > Import > Compensation Import

  • Import file must be in .csv file format

  • Import file must include a header row in which each column header corresponds to a native field in Swivel. These headers can be organized in any order without impacting the import. See import headers below:

The date the compensation was paid—formatted as mm/dd/yyyy

Compensable Amount

The total amount from which compensation is calculated—formatted as a number not currency

Compensation Rate

The percent at which the commission is calculated—formatted as a number with no extra symbols

Agent Compensation Agent 1

The name of the producer as it appears in Swivel

Agent Compensation Split 1

Percent of commission the agent will receive—formatted as a number with no extra symbols

Example: for a 50/50 split enter 50

Example: if there is no split, enter 100

Compensation Type

Valid options include Commission or Fee

Frequency

Valid options include Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly, One_Time_Only

How to Complete a Compensation Import

  • Request a compensation report from the carrier/institution.

  • Create a .csv file using the above headers. Transfer the appropriate data from the compensation report to your import file.

  • Click Settings > Account > Import > Compensation Import.

  • Click Choose File and select your .csv file.

  • Check one of the following options:

    • Insert Only to add new data. (Recommended)

    • Insert and Update to both insert new data and update existing data entries.

    • Update Only to update existing data entries but not insert any new data.

  • Click Import.

  • To view imported commissions click Business Management > Compensation.
