Overview
Event Types help organize and report on different kinds of marketing events, such as seminars, workshops, webinars, client appreciation events, and annual reviews.
You can manage Event Types from:
Advanced Setup (recommended for system administrators)
The New Event window (Owner and Manager users only)

Adding Event Types
From the left-side main menu, click the Settings tab > Advanced Setup
Go to Marketing & Sales section > click Event Types.
From the Event Types page > click +New button

đ Tip: Event Types can also have configured workflows to each Event Type to help efficiently manage the logistics of each event. To configure a workflow, simply click into the respective Event Type and click +Add in the workflow template window. Learn more at Workflows.
Edit Existing Event Types
From the left-side main menu, click the Settings tab > Advanced Setup
Select the Marketing & Sales section > click Event Types
Go the Action Menu
> select Edit for the appointment type you wish to edit.Complete the Edit Event Type form

Merge Event Types
From the left-side main menu, click the Settings tab > Advanced Setup
Select the Marketing & Sales section > click Event Types
From the Event Types page > click

Remove original Lead Source after merge recommended

đ IMPORTANT! Please use the Merge feature with extreme caution. Objects merged cannot be un-merged.
Best Practices
Use consistent naming.
Avoid duplicate Event Types.
Merge duplicates instead of creating similar names.
Keep Event Types broad enough for reporting.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Event Type?
An Event Type categorizes your marketing events. Examples include seminars, workshops, webinars, client appreciation events, and annual reviews.
Event Types help organize events and improve reporting across Swivel.
I don't see the option to create a new Event Type from the Event Type drop-down.
Only users with the Owner or Manager role can create Event Types directly from the New Event window. If you don't see this option, contact your Swivel administrator for assistance.
When should I create a new Event Type?
Create a new Event Type when your organization regularly hosts a type of event that isn't already represented.

Annual Review
Avoid creating multiple Event Types for the same purpose with slightly different names.
Can I edit an existing Event Type?
Yes. Open the Event Type to update its name or description.
Changing an Event Type updates the name anywhere it is used throughout Swivel.
Can I delete an Event Type?
Event Types are managed using the Merge feature.
If an Event Type is no longer needed, merge it into another Event Type to preserve your historical event data.
When should I merge Event Types?
Merge Event Types when duplicate or similar Event Types exist.

Merging helps keep reporting accurate and reduces duplicate selections.

Can I assign a Workflow to an Event Type?
Yes. Event Types can have Workflow Templates assigned to them.
When an event is created using that Event Type, the associated Workflow Template can be used to help manage event logistics and follow-up activities.
Does changing an Event Type affect existing events?
Yes. If you rename or merge an Event Type, existing events using that Event Type will reflect the updated value.
Where can I create a new Event Type?
You can create a new Event Type in either of the following locations:
During event creation by selecting + New Event Type from the Event Type drop-down.
Settings > Advanced Setup > Marketing & Sales > Event Types
