Swivel's self-service Wealthbox Import tool allows you to quickly and efficiently import your data - but there are a few steps to prepare before you begin.
🏁 Before You Begin
Before starting your Wealthbox Import, please make sure you have:
A reliable internet connection
Appropriate permissions in both Wealthbox and Swivel
In Wealthbox- Admin access to request a backup export and create the API Access Token
In Swivel - Owner user role to complete the Wealthbox import
Your Wealthbox API Access Token (instructions below)
Your Wealthbox export downloaded (instructions below)
At least 60 minutes of uninterrupted time
Create your API Access token
⚠️ Important: You must have your API Access Token to complete the Wealthbox Import.
In Wealthbox, navigate to left-hand Main Navigation Menu, select Settings > and click API Access under the Personal section.
To create a new token, click +Create Access Token> Enter a label and > click Save.
🔍 Tip: Bad data in means bad data out. Before importing, take a few minutes to clean up Wealthbox— remove duplicates, outdated records, and anything you don’t want in Swivel.

Step 1: Request your Wealthbox Export
Log-in to your Wealthbox Account.
Navigate to the three-dot Action Menu at the top right and select Settings.
From the Workspace section > click Export choose JSON for your export file format and click the Request Export button.
You will receive an email when your backup is complete. Once your backup is ready, log into Wealthbox and return to the Export view, and click the three dot Action Menu next to the Export Name and < click Download.
Once you have downloaded your Backup, you are ready to import into Swivel.
🔍 Tip: Depending on the size of your Wealthbox Export, this may take 5 minutes to an hour+
Please Note: Wealthbox also recommends exporting contacts from the Contact List page for full details. Once you have completed the Wealthbox backup, verify that all desired details have migrated into Swivel. If not, you will need to complete a contact list export in Wealthbox and upload using the Contact Import feature in Swivel.
Step 2: Import Your Wealthbox Database Backup to Swivel
⚠️ Important: The import must be completed in one session. You cannot save your progress and return later. If your Wealthbox file is large, the import may take longer than one hour to complete.
In Swivel, click Settings > Account > Import and navigate to the Wealthbox Import tile and < click Import
Upload your Wealthbox File (in .json format), enter your Wealthbox API Key, and select Map projects to marketing events to import Wealthbox Projects as Events (Seminars) into Swivel (Note: Ignore Products will exclude any Product/Account information and is not recommended in most cases)
Click Import
Step 3: Complete the Product Mapping Screen
After importing, you'll be guided through the Product Mapping Screen.

Adjust any mappings as needed — for example, map “222(Allianz)” Allianz 222 Annuity
Click Continue when you’re satisfied with the mappings.
⚠️ Important: Swivel will process the data and display progress messages as the import runs. Do not close your browser or navigate away from the page.
