What Makes a Policy Syncable

The criteria a policy or account must meet to be eligible for syncing by Swivel Sync.

Written by Jessica Hightower

In Swivel, a product is the instance of a policy or an account stored in your CRM. A product is syncable when it meets all of the criteria below — only then will Swivel Sync attempt to update its values from the carrier or institution website.

Eligibility Criteria

All three of the following must be true:

  • The associated carrier or institution is a connected institution in Swivel Sync.

  • The connected institution has at least one linked login source.

  • The policy uses a status whose product status indicator is Pending or Open.

🔍 Tip: The product status indicator (e.g. pending, open, closed...) is different from the product status. You can configure custom product status labels and they will still be eligible to sync, as long as the underlying indicator is Pending or Open. For details, see 🔗 Product Statuses.

Things to Know

  • Swivel Sync updates existing policies and accounts in Swivel — it does not create new ones from carrier data. Records must already exist in your CRM, associated to a contact.

  • The policy or account number stored in Swivel must match the carrier or institution website exactly, including any leading zeros or extra characters. A mismatched number will return a Not Found result rather than syncing successfully.

  • Swivel Sync identifies which values to update by value name, not by product name. A policy can still sync even if its product name doesn’t exactly match a known supported product on the carrier — as long as the value names are supported.
