Using Click-to-Dial

Requirements

To use click-to-dial, confirm your phone provider has an internet browser phone extension. Any phone provider that is a cloud-based service or VoIP over Internet Protocol (VoIP), will most likely have a browser extension to install.

๐Ÿšง IMPORTANT: Phone provider must support a VOIP app. This is managed independently of your Swivel account.

After downloading your phone providerโ€™s browser extension, Click-to-Dial allows you to easily click to call right within Swivel.


RingCentral

RingCentral is common cloud-based communications solutions for businesses.

  1. Open Google Chrome browser.

  2. Navigate to the Chrome Web Store > Click Extensions > Type RingCentral in the search bar.

  3. Select the RingCentral for Google extension > click Add to Chrome.

  4. Click Add Extension.

  5. RingCentral for Google extension is now added.

  6. Click the RingCentral Chrome extension.

  7. Click Sign In and login to your RingCentral account.

  8. Click I accept.

  9. Continue through the prompts and click Finish Setting. Your RingCentral dial pad with appear.

  10. Navigate to the RingCentral browser extension > Right-click and select Options.

  11. Confirm the setting Only show RingCentral in the websites I specify is selected.

  12. Click the + button.

  13. Type your Swivel custom URL > click Save.

  14. Login to Swivel and navigate to the Contacts (or Clients and/or Leads) tab.

  15. Hover over the phone icon for a given household > click the phone icon.

  16. An instant screen pop will appear with the RingCentral dial pad and begin dialing.

  17. You can also navigate directly to the contact record to use click-to-dial.


Troubleshooting Click-to-Dial

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: To get started, make sure that your preferred VOIP software is selected as the default app for VOIP Calls on your computer.

On a PC

  1. From the desktop taskbar, search for Default Apps.

  2. In the right pane, under Default Apps, scroll down to the bottom and click on "Choose default apps by protocol".

  3. Now in the left pane, you will see a list of different protocols. Scroll down to TEL, and click on it. Then you should be able to select your VOIP app of choice.

On a Mac

  1. In general, Facetime will be the initial default app for calls. To change the default for calls on a Mac, start by opening FaceTime.

  2. Click on the FaceTime menu, and select Preferences.

  3. On the Settings tab of the Preferences window, locate the option Default for calls:

  4. Select your preferred application

  5. Close Facetime. The next time you click on a telephone link in a First Draft, your preferred program should open.
