What is the Communication Log?

From the Contact Page, navigate to the first tab on the bottom left side of the page titled Communication Log.

The Communication Log shows any email interaction amongst a contact and a User in Swivel. This log includes Marketing email channel communications and email correspondence between contacts and an Integrated email account (see Microsoft Outlook Integration or Google Integration).


Viewing Emails in the Communication Log

  1. Go to the Communication Log tab.

  2. Click blue hyperlink of the Email Subject Line.

  3. View the email contents once the email selected has expanded.

πŸ” Tip: If you delete the email from your inbox (after it has synced/been added to Swivel), you will still be able to read the email in Swivel, but will no longer be able to see attachments.


What are some of the daily sending limits for some email providers?

Below is a range based on our research. Please check with your provider for specific information and/or any questions.

  • Gmail – limited to approximately 120 messages per day

  • GSuite – limited to approximately 500 messages per day

  • Outlook.com – limited to 100-300 messages per day

  • Exchange server – limits depend on the settings

  • IMAP – limits depend on the server

How long does it take to sync an email address to Swivel?

Syncing an inbox typically takes anywhere from 20-30 minutes. For larger inboxes, the initial sync could take up to 24 hours. If your email has not synced after 24 hours, please contact our Support Team.

How long should I wait before I delete an email from my inbox?

Once you have connected your email account, the emails are synced to Swivel every 10 minutes. Depending on the volume of emails, it can take up to 30 minutes. Unfortunately, if the email is deleted before the sync is completed, that email will not be brought over to the contact's communication log. At this time, we recommend verifying the email has been captured in the contact's communication log before deleting from the inbox.

How do I delete an email from the communications tab?

Navigate to the contact's Communications Log and hit the delete button. Once the email has been deleted, it can not be retrieved so please use caution.

How do I disconnect an email account from Swivel?

Review the instructions on the Setup page.

Why does my email delivery date state "Delivery Date Unknown"

If a tenant had any emails logged in the Communication Log prior to the May 2024 software upgrade, the email delivery date was corrupt and lost in the data migration. Users can still access these emails by scrolling through the Communication Log or searching for an expected email in the Communication Log Search Bar.

How do I disable the email tracking feature for a contact?

If you do not want email communications to be logged for a contact, you will need to delete each email manually.

Can I reply to or forward emails from the Communication log?

No, the communication log is strictly meant to keep record of email communications.
