Swivel Assistant

Connect Your Own AI to Swivel (MCP)

Bring your own AI: connect Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app to Swivel's MCP server at mcp.swivelcrm.io, sign in, and work in Swivel from your AI app.

Swivel has an MCP server (Model Context Protocol, a standard way for AI apps to use other software). When you connect your own AI app to it, the app can look things up and make changes in your Swivel account, the same way the Swivel Assistant does. It uses the same set of more than 1,100 Swivel actions.

Server address: https://mcp.swivelcrm.io/

Who can do this: Every user in a Swivel account. You connect with your own Swivel sign-in, and the AI app gets your permissions only. See Security and Permissions.

There are no keys or secrets to copy. You add the address in your AI app and sign in to Swivel.

Your AI app runs on its own AI provider, so Swivel does not charge AI credits for it. Your AI app’s own plan and limits apply.

  1. In Claude.ai, open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Click Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Enter the URL https://mcp.swivelcrm.io/. No client ID or secret is needed.
  4. Save the connector, then connect it. Claude opens Swivel’s sign-in page.
  5. Sign in to Swivel. See Sign In and Approve the Connection.
  1. In Claude Desktop, open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Click Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Enter the URL https://mcp.swivelcrm.io/.
  4. Connect it. Claude opens Swivel’s sign-in page in your browser.
  5. Sign in to Swivel. See Sign In and Approve the Connection.
  1. In a terminal, run:

    Terminal window
claude mcp add --transport http swivel https://mcp.swivelcrm.io/
  2. Start Claude Code with claude.

  3. Type /mcp, pick swivel, and choose to sign in. Your browser opens Swivel’s sign-in page.

  4. Sign in to Swivel. See Sign In and Approve the Connection.

  1. In ChatGPT, add a custom connector with the URL https://mcp.swivelcrm.io/. Where this setting is depends on your ChatGPT plan; see ChatGPT’s help for adding a custom connector.
  2. Connect it. ChatGPT opens Swivel’s sign-in page.
  3. Sign in to Swivel. See Sign In and Approve the Connection.

Any AI app that supports remote MCP servers can connect.

  1. In your app’s MCP or connector settings, add a server with the URL https://mcp.swivelcrm.io/.
  2. Follow the app’s sign-in prompt. It opens Swivel’s sign-in page.
  3. Sign in to Swivel. See Sign In and Approve the Connection.

Swivel customers connect Claude and ChatGPT. Other apps’ menus differ; see your app’s help for where to add an MCP server.

After you add the server, your AI app sends you to Swivel to sign in. These are the screens you see, in order. Some appear only when they apply to you.

  1. Sign in. Swivel’s sign-in page opens. Sign in with your Swivel email and password.
  2. Multi-factor authentication. Enter your verification code, the same as when you sign in to Swivel. See How to Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
  3. Pick the account. If you belong to more than one Swivel account, Swivel asks “Which account should this connection use?” Click Select next to the account you want. The connection works only in that account.
  4. Enter your access code. If you use access codes, the Access code screen opens. Type your code and click Continue. This is not a security code; it is never texted or emailed to you. Ask your administrator if you don’t know your code. See Access Codes.
  5. Approve the connection. Swivel asks “Authorize app name to use your account?” and shows where you will be sent after you approve. The app will be able to “View and manage all data in your account through this app.”
  6. Click Authorize to connect, or Deny to stop.

Your AI app is connected. Ask it something such as “List my tasks due this week in Swivel.”

  • “This app runs on your computer.” You see this for apps that run on your own computer, such as Claude Code. This is expected.
  • “This app has not been verified by Swivel. Continue only if you opened this page from it.” You see this when the app is not one Swivel recognizes. Click Authorize only if you started the connection from that app yourself.

  • It works as you, in the account you picked, with your role and access code.
  • It sees only the records you can see on Swivel’s screens.
  • It can make the same changes you can make, including sending email and deleting records. A connection gets all of your permissions; you can’t limit one connection to fewer actions.
  • Every change is saved in Swivel under your name.

Your AI app, not Swivel, decides whether to ask you before it acts. The Yes and No questions you get from the Swivel Assistant come from the assistant, not from the MCP server. A few actions, such as buying AI credits, return a preview first and act only on a second call. Check your app’s settings for tool approvals.

Swivel data your AI app reads goes to that app and its AI provider. Their terms and privacy policy apply to it.

To stop an AI app from using Swivel, remove the Swivel connector or server in that app.

Swivel does not have a screen that lists or removes connected AI apps.

Yes. Swivel customers connect ChatGPT today. See Connect ChatGPT.

Can I connect to more than one Swivel account?

Section titled “Can I connect to more than one Swivel account?”

Each connection works in the one account you picked when you signed in. To work in another account, remove the connection, connect again, and pick the other account on the “Which account should this connection use?” screen.

Is there a limit on how much my AI app can do?

Section titled “Is there a limit on how much my AI app can do?”

Yes. Each user can make up to 360 requests a minute, 7,200 an hour and 28,800 a day.

Can I use an API key instead of signing in?

Section titled “Can I use an API key instead of signing in?”

No. Every connection signs in as a Swivel user, so Swivel can apply that user’s permissions. Swivel API keys don’t work with the MCP server.
